China and India are growing
by Sebastian Cherukanam on May 12, 2008 06:18 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Death of students is pointing to a terrible reality. In countries like India and China, the growth that is proclaimed is vertical only. There are many areas like educational institutions, especially the ones owned by the government where foremost attention should be given, are ignored completely. They are constructing 100-150 storey buildings having earth quake resistance capability but when it comes to schools and other such institutions, even single storey buildings are not strong enough. Make amendments at least at this eleventh hour please.

I still remember those school days when we, the students, were asked to run out of the school building for fear of collapsing it on us during rainy season. When I visited the school recently, I was shocked when I saw the same building there.
