Every one here talks so much about Kargil! Here is a small story that relates to Kargil:

Here was two persons living together side by side in a village. Let us call them A and B.

One fine day, person A finds that his fence in the backyard has been breached by his neighbour.

After some days, he finds that there is a small hut constructed in his backyard by his neighbour B

After some more time, person A finds that more huts coming up in his backyard.

Now, person A wakes up and it flashes to him that his property is breached by his neighbour and a number of huts have come up illegally.

Now he decides to take corrective actions and summons his servants, brothers and other family members.

Finally, there wull be a fierce fight between both neighbours and person A, at last takes the partial control of his property!

After a few days, he takes a victriy procession to announce that he has won the fight.

He also brags about he drove away his neighbour from his boundary. He twists his moustache and boasts of this great victory.

But, he never realizes that a number of his own men were killed during the fight!

Moral: You fail to detect that the enemy is in your doorstep. Later, you ignore that fact and sit like a fool for a long time. In the end, you loose your own people while claiming your own property!

Kargil strife (not a war!) is the biggest fraud let loose on the gullible people of India by the so called nationalitic party of India (read BJP)

If you remember the circumstances of those tumultous months (April and May, 1998 when ABV was booted out by just one vote that of Jayalalitha?) when the country was going trough instability?

BJP needed a very strong reason to come back to power. What could be more potent than Kargil issue? Even though, NDA govt knew about the breach at Kargil, they never took action till such a time when they needed Kargil strife.

Kargil was used for a political purpose of coming back to power. That is the reason they had to stop the strife at any cost before October, 1999 when the elections were to be held.

srikanth hegde,

india created its enemy, pakistan was born out of hate and religious acrimony...

the failure to detect should squarely be blamed on the congress and nehruvian politics...

Useless story, matter is not concern with the kargil. During the winter season both India & Pakistan leave their post due to extrem whether condition when Indian army left their position in winter, Pakistani army unfortunetly occupied this position.

Shetty,

When you occpupy Siachen throughout the year even during the harshest part of winter, isn't it possible to guard the Kargil posts during the winter? What happened to Major Surinder Singh who informed about the breach as early as during October, 1998?
