Understand that Pakistan is feeeling under pressure internationally and by US. Its PM Geelani will be meeting Pres Bush and he is going to be talked to as other Paki offocials. So this is Pakistans way of telling American bosses (since they can't speak up to them) that they matter in the region as they can create chaos for US partners (India being one of the partners); so Pakistani's expect US will be terrified or at the very least show moderation when they fire missiles into Porkistan or kill Porki's. Geelani, Kayani, etc are fearful for loss of face.

The problem with India & our culture is that we never formed strategic relationships with powerful countries like China, USA (only with USSR). Friendship isn't based jsut on commonality of democracy, seculiarism, economic interests, good neighborliness, etc but long terms plans to consolidate power in the region and that must include military strategies to subjugate other countries. We didn'thave any strategy even for pitiable countries like PAkistan, Bangaldesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc. In the process even these have become a nuisance for India. A wise leader would have nurtured elements within and outside each of these countries with or without other countries' help to move election results and buy up politicians so that they would do India's bidding.

Remember, Muslims when left by themselves, like in Pak, tend to destroy themselves. They need to expand and create troubles in the neighborhood.
