"20 years from now, men will be ready to die for me, but not for you." What does this sentence mean? Soldiers die for their country,not their commanding officers or colleagues.

well i believe what he meant was soldiers would be ready to sacrifice their their life for our country at his command whereas his friends who will be earning a lot more than himwould not find even their own relatives and friends to sacrifice even if the person spent his entire earnings on them

kachra seth, take out the kachra from your mind. when on the battlefield in a complex and uphill battle, one has to trust the officer he serves with his own life. If the officer says 'charge', the true soldier will charge even if chances are that that he will be killed within 10 seconds of charging. This, he does, knowing and trusting that the officer has a solid plan! There is a level of trust in this relationship which is not present in that of a manager and a subordinate. This is what the quote means.
