Naive
by bhaskar on Jan 24, 2008 05:57 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

They are like those beauty queens who talk about social service during the contests. These kids are like any kids who join a new Job.They are so naive .Somehow they have been brainwashed into thinking that only they work for the country. This is dangerous as they will develop contempt for civilians. They indeed work for the country...but so do millions of people working in other fields. Dont doctors/engineers/software techies/lawyers work for the country whether directly or indirectly ?
Anyway Everybody ends up compromising after few years of service. Have you heard of the Generals siphoning off funds meant for buying Dal Chawal for soldiers. So please let's not be holier than thou.
Anyway the idea of an agressive army is of little relevance when we have infiltration of Bangladeshis by the millions. Can we stop that ? Did we do anything when BSF personnel were killed by the Bangladesh Rifles ? Having only a strong army is not the way to development anyway as Japan has proved. Development comes from a strong economy. If the economy is not strong from where will the govt. get money for defence expenditure.Anyway these kids will grow up, opt for voluntary retirement & join the corporate sector in another 10-12 years like the army officers are doing now. Guaranteed

As an officer with extensive experience (and three galantry awards) I must tell you that you are singularly ignorant.

Cynicism of the extreme kind is what you have displayed. Tell me, what do you want these brave kids to do? Doctors who such blood, software techies whose world begins and ends with only themselves, engineers who build structures to kill, lawyers to fleece litigants and make brothers fight brothers. Common on, man, wake up.

I think you shd wake up...bcoz to you every person who is not in the army is corrupt.Thats cynicism of the extreme kind.Do you think civilians working in terrorist infested areas who have to face threats are not brave ?At least the soldiers have guns to fight & defend themselves.
Do you think that the common people who have to face corruption at every level just to survive not brave.bravery is not strutting around with guns.

The armed forces, collectively, comprise the ONLY institution relatively untouched by the rot in India's public arena. Sure, there are a few bad apples, but look at the proportion - comapared to the proportion of corrupt politicians (make no mistake, it is the most lucrative career today, bureaucrats, cops.

And mind you, all your infiltration, terrorist strikes, etc, would have been much higher, if not for the armed forces. While your average poilitican, IAS officer and cop is collecting his bribe money/hafta/rishwat, it is "beauty queens" that ensure your house is not bombed by some terrorist.

Show some respect for people who put their lives on the line, not for peanuts they are paid, but because they believe in their country.

Lastly, ask yourself, why, in all counter insurgency measures, in all natural disasters, in all riots etc, it is not doctors/engineers etc who are called to do the dirty work - it is not even the police (useless buggers anyway) - it is the army.

Please show some respect where due.

Let me tell you one thing.... lacs of officers and soldiers toiling out there in inhospitable terrain...that' exactly why the rotten apples have to be identified...but guys like you will never allow that ....maybe thats why fragging takes place...maybe these kids may themselves become victims of fragging. Also guys like you will never admit to rapes in the NE.Remember Kangla Fort ? Bcoz to you bullheaded, half brained, short sighted people guns are the solution to everything ...

Low lives like you do not know the meaning of honor, pride and patriotism. These are feelings way above that of a materialistic creep as yourselves. Do not equate materialistic achievements with traits like valor, bravery and patriotism.
As he said - you live a much happier and honored life in an army than a corporate rat. Doctors/Engineers/Lawyers live like selfish machines making money but have no life. You never live ur life in all these professions. Only thing u do is work work and save enuff money by ur old age, so that ur kids can squabble over it or so it finances your stay at the old age home after being kicked out by ur kids.
What happens when ur sick...u spend lakhs and lakhs for ur treatment, while army takes care of ur health. They provide u housing, education for kids etc., there are army run engg colleges and medical institutions with reservations for the army men's children. Every aspect of a person is taken care by the army.
Grow up, dude. These are our heroes. It will take time for you to understand such mature thoughts but try.
