In this forum many people are writing against the tamils in Srilanka. How many of us have read the history of Srilanka written by popular historians? The facts are different, but many people knew very less about the actual facts about the ethnic tamils in srilanks. Homeland issue could have been sorted out by early governments of Srilanka which was neglected in the 1970s which had entered a crisis like this.
LTTE was formed for the cause of Tamil liberation to liberate Tamil people from the attrocities of Srilankan Govt and people. But the way it has emerged now is very different with a different ideology and the image of LTTE is spoiled now on the vision of foriegn nations. The way LTTE is following is incorrect and could not be accepted, but thereis no other way left for them in this situation. Just for this reason, the way they are following cannot be justified.
The tamils who are suffering should be taken care by the international community.
Don't have ill-feelings for Tamils.
Know the facts and talk.
When somebody talk about northindia and southindia divide, please know about the Ancient indian history and know where the northindians have come from?
Talk for unity because India is a country with diverse background, many languages, cultures and so as Indians we shouldn't have have hard feelings for any of our fellow indians.
Let us accept and help each other afterall the average age of an Indian is 65 years.....

Dude!! Problem of Ethnic tamils is very genuine and the Machinations of LTTE is way too draconian and devilish. Do not try to lure people to turn into a devil's advocate like you. First get the person who washed your brain. Grow up and try to think.

@truth: I am not a LTTE sympathizer or supporter. Just to give an idea of why LTTE originate in the first place, was in 1983 / 1984 several tamil families were brutally killed by sinhala groups, women raped & not even children were spared. You can read the history and whole world knows it. After that tamils started taking arms in protection & naturally the group grew bigger and bigger.
That doesnt justify what all LTTE does today, but former heads of lanka, jayawardane, bandaranayake, chandrika to rajapakse - all are reasons for LTTE's current status. They have to blame themselves. Fact is bullet is no solution to this problem. They have to sit down and talk.

No. The LTTE came into being because of Tamil politicians who did not want to lose their positions of power which they had during British rule. They started this mantra of "discrimination" and "separation" just before independence was granted because they knew that the oppressed Sinhala majority would be given equal rights and with 1 vote for 1 person the Sinhalese would outnumber the Tamil minority who were running an apartheid state controlling the government.

My friend. LTTE earned the wrath of indian people by killing rajiv. That is one of their biggest blunders. Rajiv allegedly backstabbed prabhakaran, that is the reason given by B Raman and another critic in articles written. In one of the articles published i even read one of the army commanders in sri lanka (IPKF days) were asked to kill prabhakaran during a white flag meet. The officer being honest, didnt take the orders. India distanced itself from SL after the IPKF debacle and rajiv's assasination.
SL is being armed by Israel & US, so they have an upper hand and LTTE is now under very high pressure and lost several of their leaders in combat or airstrikes by the SL AForce.
Strange is the fact that UN doesnt care a damn about the conflict & US doesnt see any gain by intervening in this part, there is no oil in SL .. so they are okay with bloodshed.
Overall India should seize the opportunity and get in and play like a big country in the region . Foreign policy is failing here..

I am with you where you say that India should play bigger role....but i fail to understand that if Tamil people and politicians and India have so much sympathy for the LTTE then why can't we call them back and let them live here in India....ultimately what they are fighting for is peace of land where they can live and India being their mother country is the place where they should be invited....what are they going to get fighting.....when we have alternate options...please correct me if i am wrong

India can not do anything until LTTE drops their arms. It is true SL GOVT is very cunning and keeps breaking the promises. Both parties(SL GOVT and LTTE) have taken extreme measures. What is happening in SL is they are making it Buddhist republic as opposed to secular which is even more draconic than an islamic republic according to the colonel Athule. Imagine folks if India becomes a hindu republic and starts being draconic how will other monorities feel? Luckily India is secular . Of course the pseudo seculars go to other extreme. If any one party goes to extreme then there is problem. Ultimately we all should learn to live as one race the human race.

I have gone through whole length of history and never found any mention of this aryan dravidian theory....this was a story cooked up by britishers to keep Indian people diveided so thay can rule....but it is sad to see that people still don't realise it...
