Attitudes of Indian people
by Prashanth on Aug 07, 2008 10:25 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I can understand the author's compulsions being a paid consultant. He was there to perform a task and being part of his job. In addition also to please his employers to a certain extent.

But I dont understand many Indians' attitude when they talk about India's progress in the 21st century they also include China! They always say 'India and China...'. Either that or they are part of "South Asia". As if for them being part of India is somehow embarrassing or not important enough.

well Prasanth, you got it right all the way. The use of the word 'South Asia' is very deliberate and is being popularised in the global media just to belittle India and made India look like it is the same as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. Instead we should be using the term 'Greater India' as Rajeev Srinivasan rightly suggests.
