No, David they did not. The same night as the Godhra incident, there was fun and song going on in Ahmedabad. Then suddenly the next day there was a flare up the likes of which makes my head hang in shame. Had I been the CM of Gujarat, I would have been on my toes to ensure that there were no Indian citizens killed or maimed regardless of their belief patterns. Because I would not have forgotten the oath that I took to protect the people of Gujarat from maim, murder, rape and pillage. If we all have not come together to form a nation State where we feel safe and contented then pray what is the raison detre of a nation? We cannot re-elect a mass murderer. It is insane to think that a murderer can be a blessing for a State. If this were so, then evey poor household ought to have a murderer as the head of that dwelling as he would ensure "economic development". What utter rot are we talking about?!!? Whether you would like to vote for Rahul or not is NOT the issue. Voting for Modi would be a disaster. Remember, the last time he was elected only 30% of the total poulation of Gujarfat voted for him So don't tell me that Gujarat loves him.
