Kerala is still one of the most divided places in India , on the lines of caste that is. All the education story is crap. It is very surprising that even with so called total education , Kerala's political demographic is divided on caste lines. Namboodiri's still think they are royalty ( or atleast close to ) , Nairs & Menons think they have seeds of Brahamanism ( not sure if sambandham is still prevalent ) and Ezhavas dont give a damn for the above two castes. They are intoxicated in the new riches they have embarked upon.
Vivekananda was right when he said that Kerala is a mental asylum. This is even true today.

Do you know Koodiyaattam, the Sanskrit Theathre of Kerala, which was develped and nurtured and protected in it's big temples, was recently pronounced by UNESCO as 'the Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity'.
