Barhminical Arrogance
by laligam sekhar on Jun 04, 2007 09:18 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It is time for Hinduism to grow up and shed all vestiges of the past. I would suggest a major conference of all the Hindu leaders in India. The following topics should be discussed:
1. The caste system should be abandoned completely, and all traces of casteism on our birth records should be erased. Instead, they may establish general standards regarding who can become priests in a temple (e.g. study and knowledge of the scriptures, living a life which respects all persons and animals, and following well accepted rules of good behaviour). Such priests may be of any birth, and should be supported in their education and life by all Hindus.
2. Untouchability and discrimination of any kind should be made immoral, according to the dictates of the religion
3. An order or orgainization (s) should be established for the uplift of the poor and uneducated people in all counties, similar to various Christian organizations.
4. Any perosn belonging to another religion or with no faith in God at all, if they wnt to come to a temple and pray, or simply visit, should be allowed to do so, as long as they floow the general rules (similar to how a Hindu or any one may visit most of the mosques around the world)
5. There should be an active dilaogue between the Hindu leaders and leaders of other religions to find grounds for peaceful co existance, based on the Universal oneness of gods.
I think that it is high time that our Hindu leaders stepped up to the plate and started behaving in a man

@sekhar: your suggestion is good, but unfortunately you are unable to see the politics behind this.

FACT IS: RAVI NEVER SAYING HIS WIFE/NO OTHER XTIAN MEMBERS OF THEIR FAMILY WENT TO THE TEMPLE WITH HIM.

Yes his son/grandsons are Hindus. But why he took his wife along with him when she do NOT believe in Hinduism.

Also remember, Ezhavas were NEVER disalllowed from Guruvayur. Only Dalits were not allowed which was corrected by Gandhiji. Ezhavas were NOT dalits either.
