'It is Brahminical arrogance'
by Krishnaswamy Raghavan on Jun 04, 2007 07:27 PM   Permalink

While what has happened at Guruvayoor temple should put our heads down in shame in this 21st Century, the politicians have no locus standi to condemn this. It is only the politicians who have on numerous occassions bent the religious practices to back seat to suit their needs. They have made devotees stand for hours to have easy darshan for themselves. They have misused temple money, property and what not because the God do not question them immediately. Mr.Vayalar Ravi, if he is a peace minding politician, should have asked the Devaswam authorities, whether they have any objection in doing the ceremony inside the temple and take their concurrence. It was his Political arrogance, which brushed aside the objection of people connected to the temple and indulged in the ceremony and now blaming Braminical arrogance. If temples in South India, more particularly those in Tamil Nadu and Kerala is to regain their effectiveness, the politicians should take vow not to enter the temple.
