Ignorant priests
by Anand Iyer on Jun 04, 2007 07:17 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

These priests who meted out this disgusting treatment to Ravi's family should read these:

"He in whom good conduct is manifest, is a Brahmin and in whom this is absent, treat such as Shudra". Mahabharata III.180.27

"It is tapas(austerity and penance) which makes one a Brahmin and not his birth"-Srimad Bhagavatham

"Not study, not learning is the cause of Brahmin status. Conduct is the basis..." Mahabharata III.312.106

Do these priests claim that they r greater authority on scriptures than Lord Krishna and Veda Vyasa(also regarded as incarnation of Vishnu)????

Purification of temple is not necessary. First these priests should purify their own minds and hearts. They have violated the commandments of the Lord in Gita in his own temple. Let them read the 12th and 16th Chapters of Gita

Purification of the temple is necessary when people suspected of eating prohibited meats or have shadowy life style is suspected. Hindus shouldn;t destroy the sanctity of temples by mamking unreasonable demands.

I agree with you. If Hinduism has to sruvive, if we want people to stop converting we should open up our own traditions which drive people out,

Hinduism is a way of life and only religion which accepts Atheism also as one of its tenets.

Like you pointed out when Yama asked Yudhistira who is a Brahmin, one who does his duty is a Brahmin and one who does not is not a Brahmin.

Why we Brahmins forgot that very basic teaching?
