The issue is of temple doing purufication as it feels that the child is a non-hindu as the mother/grand mother is a born non-hindu.
It has nothing to do with Vayalar being a ezhava or OBC. Vayalar seems to be giving a casteist color to the whole episode.
Temple managements attitude is deplorable. But Vayalar Ravi is stretching the issue to a different dimension altogether.
