Reminds me of Bernard Shaw
by Neo Intellectual on Aug 07, 2007 04:46 PM   Permalink

Reminds me of what Bernard Shaw said about democracy :
"In democracy, it is your vote that counts. In feudalism, it is your count that votes!!"

I think India is headed towards a feudal society, thanks to our politicians and 'progressive' media. What else can one say, when caste based reservations are provided inspite of irrefutable data suggesting against it? For instance consider the economic condition of Brahmins (so called upper caste) in Karnataka, measured in per capita income. This information was tabled in the assembly by none other than finance minister of the state.

Per capita income of various communities as stated by the Karnataka finance minister in the state assembly: Christians Rs 1,562, Vokkaligas Rs 914, Muslims Rs 794, Scheduled castes Rs 680, Scheduled Tribes Rs 577 and Brahmins Rs 537.
