Many industries are interdependent, which is why the housing crash in the US has caused a recession.
If all the IT companies go under, your own job is at stake because you have more competition from people who have lost their jobs and who are possibly smarter. That is the minimum effect.

dear duby it is easier said that letthe IT companies go to hell... and god forbid the day comes we along with them come to road too...Indian economy today largely depnds on service industry dude... so pray govt finds out some sensible way to end the fiasco and saving lives of 53000 employees of satyam directly and billion of lives indirectly...

s it is true because man depends now more on computers and technology instead of manual forces. if a load shedding for just fraction of a second in USA makes a big news. same thing happens in india also in future. then nobody gets nothing. if all computers goes off, no money, no traffic, nothing . this is india's future funeral

It is the fall of IT But the Salaries in IT Sector that is the Real Culprit.
And as said by Satyam's Raju, The Pay Hikes, Recruitments and Account Fudgings were all to Increase Stock Prices as well as Stimulate Demand for Real Estate.
