I appreciate your brave effort in increasing the oil prices. This will hamper your dream of sitting on PM seat again, but you have proved that your indian prime minister. At the first thought i was very angry when i heard about the increase in petrol costs, but then when i thought about it, i felt it must happen or else the situation wud have been worse if delayed. Oil companies across the world are shutting their shutters due to increase in the global petroleum price. Subsidy at this point of time is not possible for any government. I once again appreciate this unselfish decision and hope that the opposition parties too will understand and address this issue rather then taking this issue as an election agenda. Only learned and educated people can understand the complexity of this problem. No political party wud ever increase the cost of petrol in an hour like this when elections are round the corner. i request the intelligent duo of PM and FM to control the inflation and increase the food production. Jai hind.

Only people with very low IQ think that Manmohan and Chidambaram understand Economics. Neither of them understands Economics. You confuse speaking good English with Economics.
Here are some home truths -- Chidambaram was a socialist/Communist in the 1970s and 1980s proving beyond all reasonable doubt that he is a foolish person. Manmohan was instrumental for socialism for 30 years of his career. He was in every socialist position like Planning Commission Chairman, Indo-Soviet Trade Commision, RBI, adviser to Finance Ministry etc.
In short, he is a fool who does not understand Economics. He is suitable for being an obedient servant. PVN understood this very well and so gave him orders to open up the economy. Even though Manmohan did not understand what opening up the economy meant, he was a good servant and knew to execute orders. So some good came out of it. The credit for opening up the economy goes to PVN.
Now, Manmohan executes Communist ideas. He takes orders from Sitaram Yechury and Sonia Maino. He actually stands up for the entire time when Sonia Maino is around.

Well its a cunning effort, they should have done is long back. In fact they should have continued with the policy of regulation of prices by market as it was decided in BJP regime. But for the petty gain they played with economy. Because of no change in petroleum prices share market could not realise the real health of economy, people went on thinking Indian economy is independent of US economy. People were happy pumping in money into stocks and pumping money to real estate taking the prices to unrealistic level. Now there will be reality check and again rippling effect will wipe of peoples hard earned money which they put in real estate and stocks. Congress has again played with AAM ADAMI and AAM ADAMI will again think Congress did good to them.

Sam, that is pretty good thinking. I do feel that, it should have been done earlier. However, I heard that there is an excise cut on fuel. Now that is a bit threatening. Not sure, if the UPA govt has done enough of dry run to see the impact.

AAM AADMI, is not anymore illiterate and heroworshiping like they where in Nehurian times;) The Commies have lost their voice. How do patriotic Indians vote for a party whose interests are more in checking America, and supporting China, rather than the interest of the AAM AADMI, and foremost of all India's long term strategic Interests;)
