bcoz the limited no. of seats in IITs limits the no. of students who can get better education.
i m a student of final year in MNNIT allahabad .
and i have realised a need of this.
students who come in NITs are really not inferior to those who go in IITs ,but at the time of entrance exam ,it is also a matter of luck.
and those who go in IITs , mostly are those having a gap of at least 2 years after 12th.but those who come in NITs ,generally with no gap or at the most one year.
i tell u one story.
i and my friend prepaired for engg. entarnce exam.
for the first year of preparation i got rank 153and he got 723.
i came here in MOTI LAL NEHRU NATIONAL INST.OF TECH.
But he prepaired for one more year and got admission in IIT roorkee.so wt is better.i doint say that i m .but it is wt happens in most of the cases

an increase in the number of iits is not going to improve things in any way. there will be countless students like u who are still going to be at the end of the list... so won't manage it to the iits... what i mean to say that i am myself an iit graduate.. and 70% of the people who study and excel in the iits are FIRST TIMERS, and they get into iit fresh from college and do well there. thats the thing which happens.. increasing the number of iits wont help anybody in any way. please don't be under the misapprehension that the majority of people in the iits get in there after one or two years of preparation. thats a WRONG NOTION.`
