No...i strongly protest against the move to upgrade some RECs to IIT status. Most of the RECs are not worthy enough of being upgraded. Although they have good facilities, they lack one basic thing....the teaching staff quality. This wil lead to the IITs losing their great status that they enjoy. The upgradtion will result only in new signboards, not quality education.

Dear Have you visited any of the campus of any REC? If not, then you dont have any right to comment on the quality of education at RECs. For Example:If you go to REC Trichy, see the infrastructure they have developed over last few years.
1 billion population and just 4.5K IITians.It is not fair.

who told u that rec's dont have good teaching staff.i am a student of rec warangal n our teaching staff is no less than iit.
