I don't think so just the number will do anything..rather I will feel that...it will reduce the competition ...will definitely result in degradation of level that is associated with IIT name..Also if practically they are increasing the number there should not be just name change from REC to NIT and from NIT to IIT...simaltanuously there should be change in every thing that is required for any college to be IIT .I mean infrastructure , teachers etc whatever facilities other IIT's have.
