it will the biggest mistake commited in the history of INDIAN education.Even though it is true that some students miss the chance to study in these premiere institutes,you can not demand for increse in their no.it will only result in degradation of their high standard.The genious brains are developed only because of the intense competitions these institutes demand .and for those who fail to get through it ,NITs are always there.So in order to give more chance to students having caliber,government should think of improving standard of NITs and not increasing no. of IITs.

i need no more iit .i need not have any more iit not beacause it will be diluted, i need not have them beacause the iit-ians have not yet crossed the barrier of mediocracy.by about 50 years they have not yet produced any scientists like j.c.bose,p.c.roy,c.v.raman,meghnad saha,p.c.mahalnobis,j.c.ghosh or satyen bose,produced by calcutta university in its heydays in some fifty years.iit-s are producing some carrierists choosing their future proffession through iit,iim or iis.a group of students highly ambitious of their financial aspect of future,having no love for science,no immotion since their childhood.as because they are mainly from high middle class family and from childhood deeply engaged in exam-oriented study through private tutors or coaching-centers they have no concept of our real india and i am sure the emotion that the last-century stallwarts had for their motherland and her people the current iit-ians do lack of it.and that's the reason why iit-s can never touch the glory of last-century's calcutta,madras or bombay university.i think not on iit-s govt. should concentrate on the traditional universities ,yes for birth of emmotional scientists not for ambitios robots.
