Yes. In view of the increased number of students taking the entrance tests and in the light of demand for 'knowledge workers' especially the 'technocrats'. IITs, with its infrastructure and brand name, can really give the necessary boost to the young and energitic minds of India. As the present IITs are inadequate to cater to the existing pool of best brains to be trained and tuned, more IITs do not imply dilution in the educational standards. On the other hand by not creating adequate opportunities in that direction we are actually underutilising our most powerful resources - human resource.
