Thanks to the selectors, he has got a good chance to leave the world cricket scene (on field) with an arch of honour from his teammates. He will be remembered as fantastic, David Gover like, elegant left handed batsman and also as an astute captain, who uplifted the spirits of Indian cricket.

The decision is not sudden. Immediately after his return from Australia, he told the then Selection committee that he was planning to quit in September or October 2008.
