Destiny plays cruel games at times...
by K Chandru on Oct 13, 2007 09:56 PM   Permalink

By opting out from the T20 world cup, the BIG 3 have dug their own graves. Had they played, India wouldn't have won the tournament or even would have perished earlier in the tournament, had they played. There wouldn't have been any pressure on Team India in the current and forthcoming series against Pakistan and then the subsequent series down under. No one would have the expected India to win. Carrying the expectations of the whole nation on their ageing shoulders, the really find it very difficult to live up to it. None blames if Uthappa or DK or Rohit Sharma fails. But, if a Sachin or Saurav or Dravid fails, people are demanding for their blood. Part and parcel of being Gods! This is just the other side of the coin. When the stole all the limelights so far reaped rich dividends for their super star status, they do deserve this treatment meted out to them as well. You need to perform consistently to deserve any super status. A good innings here and one there won't do. May be, it's time we get to see new super stars taking over and the aged ones settle to playing second fiddle. Zaheer too deserves to be demoted in the gradings as he's not proving to be a match winner. It's time, youngsters in the team learn to play a responsible game and enjoy playing for the country. No use blaming the ageing heroes alone. Do not come up with excuses. Face the challenges ahead boldly and become heroes yourself! We're looking for heroes to worship and there's a dearth of them right now.
