IAEA Safeguards Agreement and Additional Protocol
by on Jan 12, 2008 08:09 AM

Dr A.N. Prasad in his analysis has brought out, very well, the pitfalls in the IAEA Safeguards protocols that India has meekly agreed to negotiate for this sell-out deal.

Article 10.2 of the 123 Agreement requires India to sign an Additional Protocol with the IAEA. Vide Section 110 (2), The Hyde Act DEFINES the Additional Protocol to be IAEA INFCIRC 540.

I request that Dr Prasad may also highlight, if necessary in a separate article, the various facets, and their possible negative impacts of the Additional Protocol that India MUST comply with. After all, with his vast experience in the IAEA in precisely this field, he could be considered to be the most qualified in India to comment on this topic.
