Hinduism is broad minded and flexible
by Libran on Jun 04, 2007 08:26 PM

Hinduism is broad minded and is flexible - all this untouchability etc are recent aberrations (They might have validity whwn it was imposed - not any more).

There is nothing that says if mother is from different caste/religion kid will be of her caste/religion. I challenge any one to show any verse on that. If that is the case, How did sons of a fisherwoman become Kshatriyas during Mahabharath times?

Veda Vysa was son of a Fisherwoman considered a brahmin.

It is all in minds stupid. If Hinduism is not flexible, we will be the loosers. Otherwise Hindus should stop crying about "conversion" etc. I belive RSS, with its strong belief in Hindu Rashtra should fight for Ravi (and other people like him) even if he is completely opposite in his political views. Otherwise, RSS ideology of Hindu Rashtra will only be considered a political ploy.

If we show narrow mindedness we will be the loosers and we will loose the right to fight if others take advantage of such situation. We are playing in to the hands of such people who are ready to convert. If Ravi wants, tomorrow there will be big ceremony with thousands or even lakhs attending and getting coverted to any of the other religions with open arms (And tell me why should not they convert, if we treat a person who says I am a believer). So my earnest request is that all Hindus who are interested in long term Hindu ascension should rally behind Ravi irrespective of political affiliation (I am defintely dead against Nehru - Ghandi
