There was a time when I used to get extremely angry whenever cowardly faceless terrorists butchered my fellow countrymen in the name of religion. But after the umpteenth and one of the most horrendous terrorist strikes in Mumbai, my anger has been replaced by a sense of shame, helplessness and impotence. TV images of Mumbaites helping each with food and water during the first few hours after the blasts did not evoke any warmth in me. Such scenes actually made us Indians only look pathetic and hopeless. Is this all that we can do when attacked by our enemies? Describe our misfortune in broken voices, help each other with food and water, maybe donate some blood and and finally offer our condolences to families of our dead friends? Just imagine how exhilarated the terrorists who perpetrated this carnage must be feeling watching the results of their handiwork on live TV secure in the knowledge that the Indian government has no political will to bring them to book, standing as it is on the two legs of communism and minorityism. Today every Indian should hang his head in shame and yes, bend over to give more pleasure to the Islamists. That's what our pseudo-secularism has reduced us to.
