handling sting
by Soumya Srajan on Jan 11, 2006 02:18 PM

Hypothetically suppose some terrorist type of organisation forces some honest politicians or government officials to have movie made of his taking bribe at gunpoint and then releases that such movies to media and press and continues to threaten politicians that their close relatives will be harmed, unless they keep their mouth shut. This hypothesis is not that far off if one sees news about Abu Salem gang had killing some Jain and then threatning his brother etc.

Manner in which our media, press, politicians and practically every one reacted to current sting
implies that in above hypothetical stiutaion also
our whole society would have no hesitation in declaring such honest politican corrupt just on the
basis of such a tape.

It is indeed a serious matter that our lawmakers and
journalists, have decided to use such sting operation as a measure to decide honesty. Incidentally brigades of both of these categories have by and large perhaps lowest level of credibility in our society. But both of them spend most of their time declaring this guy or that one corrupt or communal or what not. Is it not better that first our journalists try to improve their own credibilty.
