there are many colleges in india which equivallent to iits but are not famous because they are not iit. some them include NIT's at Trichy,Calicut,Surathkal and VJTI bombay.see IIT's are famous in foreign countries also because of their them and if india has to increase the no of quality engineers and these colleges must be converted to iit's. what IIT means more than a NIT is more funding ,more facilities and more importantly the worldwide recognition. so that i support to have at least 4 more IIT's.
