I think we have had enough of III,s. The IITians are already ruling the world(60% of the population in the silcon valley is indian). I myself am is proud of being an IITian. But I think what india now needs are some good research institutions capable of contributing to the fundamental sciences.Thats what is the call of the time. The first half of the 20th century belonged to the scientists and most of the discoveries and inventions were made during this time and the later half of the century belonged to the engineersas as they used that pool of knowledge to come up with all sort of technical advances. But now the onous is back to the science people as we have some new puzzles to solve. I think what the world needs more now are scientists not the engineers , "WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THEM".
Here is the opportunity for india to grab and have a lead if we can come up with some good research facilities and nurture some good talent instead of wasting our money to add to the existing pool of qulaified engineers.
