More IITs
by Ashish on Oct 18, 2003 04:05 PM

Yes, Ideally, one in each state but the the bottomline remains whether we can stop our good people serving the west and west creating low tech jobs like call centres in India. Our scientists and technicians go to abroad and serve US etc and in the return they shift their low tech jobs and make while collard clerks in India. Looks like India is a dumping ground for some different sort of jobs. Lord MaCaulay's dream is finally coming true: India becoming a nation of Brown skinned sahibs/clerks and loosing its intellectual capital. Make more IITs but make sure people who come out of those institutes stay in and in other words, put more money into research and developemtn and tax this IT and BPO industry heavily to fund other crucial sectors. No R&D means no long term progress, we will always be dependent on west for technology.
