I do not agree with your argument. You can never compare IIT with MIT. MIT is primarily a research-based univresity, whereas IIT is mainly a ungraduate school with very little emphasis on research. It is rather shameful that we have only 7 IITs (That just provides decent ungrad education) for a country of over 1 Billion people. It is difficult for me to believe that we can provide quality education to only 2000+ people in such a huge country. Only research-based institute in India is IIsc--probably we can compare IIsc to MIT.
