It's a noble step by the government to increase the number of IIT's.The IIT's have spawned great minds during the past.It's also a good idea to upgrade some of the REC's to IIT's.
The government should evaluate the existing facilities and the staff and then upgrade them to IIT's.
IIT's are regarded as one of the best Institutions by the whole world.
