'Ghugni', prepared mainly from peas & potatoes, available at CR Park, New Delhi, just fulfills your mind and stomach. Costs Rs.5 for vegetarian and Rs.10 for 'mutton ghugni'.
Next, you can have 'mishti doi' - sweet curd from the nearby Bengali sweet shop for Rs.10 in earthen pot. Its a refreshing experience.
If you have sweet tooth, or even you don't, you must try 'bounde' - the Bengali version of 'bundia' to know how different and tasty this item can be. Even if you taste a little sample of 100 gram for Rs.10 or so, you will feel compelled to have more and more.
For the ultimate experience of sweet delicacy, you have to wait for winter when 'Rasogolla' and other milk products made using 'Khejur gur' or palm juggary are available. Rs.5 or Rs.6 per piece.
If you feel compelled not to neglect the non sweet items, try out 'Mocha-r chop', a fried item made from Banana flower. Costs Rs.5.
I could go on endlessly about cheap & heavenly food items. But I will end by mentioning the best of them all. For this you have to travel far to Agartala, the capital of hilly Tripura. 'Khirtua' a milk based sweet dish is something you simply got to taste in your lifetime. Costs Rs.5 per piece.
