The best street food
by Dr Sanjay Premsukh Chhajed on Jul 20, 2006 07:26 PM

I basically belong to Ahmednagar from the state of Maharashtra. Today I am going to share with you the
gastronomic expirience of one of the very maharashtrian delicacy named"Misal"

Ahmednagar is one of the known historic city. In the Dane dabara area there is a very small food joint named " Rasraj" owned by Ramseth the creator of the Misal. The joint is so small that can accomodate only 6-8 people on benches kept around an old wooden table

Misal is the combination of Sprouts cooked in a very spicy yet thin gravy called tarry & served with chivada, sev , cut onions & Corriander. A small piece of lemon is served. This is to be consumed with Pav.

It opens at 7.30 am & people are in waiting since 7.00 am forming a que. Cost is very small 10 /- per plate with one pav. You get extra tarry at no extra cost . Additional pav costs 1 /- each. Additional chivada costs 3/- only. It is out of world expirience in Rs.15/- only . Many people park their cars & have it on bonnet.

I am having the food since my college days & nothing has been changed . Whenso ever I am passing through the city I make the point to have a bite there even today(almost 25 years now)
