Rolls
by Pranav Kapur on Jul 20, 2006 05:07 PM

Tucked away in the corner of the New Friends Community Center market, is a place called Al-Bake.
For Rs.20, you can have their version of a "Shawarma", which is a lebanese dish. It is basically a roll filled with Chicken(Some say its dog meat, some rat meat!!!Take your own guess!), and with a mysterious white substance which tastes heavenly. It is served with the famous mint chutney.
The place does not stand out among all its peers in the same locality. However, the food especially the Shawarmas, are a class apart from the ones served elsewhere in the area. They are'nt too big, but sure taste good. But all in all, for Rs. 20, it is worth it.
Its become so popular, that now they have two counters for only Shawarmas. Its become hard to find a place to sit even these days. After a couple of drinks at the various adjoining pubs and bars, this is the perfect place to hit to satiate those hunger pangs!
