Tendulkar, Dravid, Kumble should follow suit
by Rahul Kulkarni on Oct 07, 2008 11:40 PM

Ganguly wants to retire gracefully. When he had the belief in himslef that he could make a comeback he did it 1 year ago. Now, I think he has no motivation left in him.
Similar to Ganguly, even Kumble, Dravid, Tendulkar should retire. Kumble is not so potent anymore and with Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, P. Ojha waiting in the wings he should make way for them.
Dravid has been a great servant of Indian Cricket. He has selflessly helped India in anyway possible. I guess his sudden resignation from captaincy did not go well with selectors and thats when his career started stuttering which was as solid as a wall till then. His inconsistency in recent past does not guarantee him a place in the side anymore.
Coming to the biggest daddy of all, Mr. Tendulkar has well past his prime and is a ordinary batsman now. Being one of the greatest batsman who has ever played the game, he is able to play and score runs in the game but, the finesse is gone. The dominance is missing. The immortality is over. He should probably play till he breaks Lara's highest run record in Tests which he rightfully deserves to own and then call it quits for the youngsters who are the future of Indian cricket. He can very well take a break and be back as mentor/batting coach of the team as his presence itself can be inspiring for anybody playing the game.
