Why was ....
by Rajendra Banerjee on Jun 26, 2014 04:06 AM

In general, most British academics are inherently anti-Hindu and anti-Indian by nature. They should not be allowed to meddle into the affaires of India. They should be told in no uncertain terms that British raj is over and they should continue their malicious activities elsewhere. They are no longer a world power in any sense.

I wish the government sends out Arundaty Roy,Medha Patkar, Udaya Kumar, Anantha Kumar and all those pseudo intellectuals to some foreign country on a paid visit to attend any so called literary festival and denies them entry on arrival and redirects their chartered flight to Iraq or wazristhan..If done Indian GDP will automatically go up by 1-2 % automatically and Lakhs of youth will get jobs.

We have a democracy for 30% of the people, and a oligarchy for the top 1%,70 % cannot afford 2 square meals a day... and they have been this way for the past 60 years. Nobody cares... all they get is platitudes.

If your children are starving, wife is being sexually exploited by money lenders and the only thought on your mind every waking hour is food, lets see how nationalistic you guys feel.

Now we have taken this a step further, not only do we not care... we want to stop anybody else for caring for these people, all in the name of patriotism... "achchey din indeed aney waley hai" for Ambani's and Birla's.

Another pseudo intellectual here. Just go out and see the kind of assistance the government provides in every possible way. Let me list out some in a chronological order.
1-Nutritious meal for pregnant women in Anganwadis.
2-Child care right from day of birth -free diet to mother and vaccinations in time
3-Free Books,Notebooks, Laptop, Bicycle,Nutritious noon meal with egg..
4- Additional coaching for the backward which they never attend
5-Reservation in education ,Fee waiver in college etc,
Now tell me who is at fault of not using the above concessions and coming up in life. You can keep talking from your point of view but I would say the government has done everything possible..don't expect the chief minister or education minister to come and sit with the children to motivate them. So your argument is just not agreeable. Oppurtunities galore for those willing to work hard and come up. Cry babies can keep crying.
Note: whatever I have mentioned happens in my home state Tamilnadu..in addition to the above every poor family gets rice at 1Re and subsidised food..

Serious and sensitive matter for any democracy
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Jun 25, 2014 06:51 AM

The matter concerning national prestige is very important for democracies. United States and Britain would never allow any one who intends to denigrate their country despite the fact that it is part of a research arrangement, particularly of it portrays poverty or homelessness in these countries. At one time, even people suspected of slight socialist leanings (and not actual socialists) used to be denied visas to United States and Britain, and probably righlt so from their perspective. The Indian immigration authorities reacted in a similar manner regarding research on negative aspects concerning India. Of course, in Estern block countries there is no question at all; the entry for such people will be automatically denied. We are only addressing this sensitive issue in the case of a respectable democracy.

No reason to explain anything to her...

When the British or US reject VISAs to Indian they owe no explanations. The last time I checked, India was a sovereign country. No need for these pseudo-seculars and religious nut cases whipping up frenzy in our country. Try Pakistan or Saudi Arabia next time.

Things have changed a lot, you cann't trust a white person at all especilly these so called academics & journalists. There is a full blown tendency to abuse the position & to work for foreign governments under the guise working or helping poor.
