This is total baseless surveys by the west. they should give full details of sample survey .and how they reach to crores of students from kashmir to kanyakumai.
Actually west becoming moral collapse society within the family incest realation is at high they tolerate and ignore child abuse even sexual activites. contarary in india society is conservative they also avoid restrict boys and girls open freindship. these survey is only to distort our great cultural ans family values.
In my entire school and college carrier I have not seen even 2% child abuse(even though I strongly condemn child abuse). Just hyping the percentage 50% is bogus doesnt carry any weight. cheap journalism.
Here in US, kids as little as in preschools and Kindergarten are taught about 'good touch' and 'bad touch' and how strangers are not allowed to touch you at all, except by offering to shake hands. At first I thought its because there are so many more pedophiles and sickos here, so maybe thats why, but now I'm sure there are many more pedophiles in India, its just that things don't get reported. Either kids don't know the difference between genuine affection and unwanted attention, or if they do, they are too shy and scared to speak up. And even if they do speak up, I doubt they are taken seriously; parents tend to deal with complaints against 'favorite uncles' by shushing the kid, rather than showing the 'uncle' the door.
Sickos exist everywhere; we need to equip our children to recognize them.

especially women they like to kiss, and hug, and hold children too much. Remember what is included in the survey. I certainly would like such fancy terms as a child.

I remember two teacher one in preschool the other in third grade they too use to kiss me.Shameful, really shameful these tendency of women. I am gald my mother never hugged me, but my grandma she was horrible at these things. Just remembering what type of things they include in this survey.
Make our kid stronger we have to give them training on several issue. Give them projects that demands to be good team player, bold, not compromise on intergrity. these practival work will mould them into strong citizen. Otherwise they spend time memorising books and come out of college as jombie, good for nothing. About abuse, whole indian society is rotten, not only school system. everything has to be changed. and best way to start change is training. give training in school, college, edult education. give them various projects to work on and show striegnth. that will help them and our society. Let thim use computer and internet to do project effieciently.

look who is talking.. the religion which gives rights to beat and ill treat women..and promises virgins
While the basis for saying so is quite unknown,it is sheer non-sensical to say that half of the school children suffer sexual abuse. If that were the case, all the schools would have remained vacant Average Indian teacher still holds his flag of integrity very high & it is quite unfair to cast aspersions on the entire community as such, because of some stray incidents here & there-sporadic incidents of sch abuse do not confine to mere schools but are seen everywhere including offices.Yes,corporal punishments are not good, but in a formative age of a school child, some times it becomes necessary to threaten an erring student to instill a sense of fear & put him on the right track. There still is some wisdom in what elders thoughtfully told -"Spare the rod & spoil the child"There is nothing wrong in admonishing gently without resorting to cruel punishments. Of late,it has become a fancy for the news starved press which sprang up in multitude like mushroom growth,to sensationalise even a small incident warning by a teacher & blow out of proportion. Most of the students in villages discontinue studies because of the grinding poverty suffered by their parents who otherwise employee their children as daily wage earners to supplement the pittance they earn AND not out of fear of sexual harassment. On the contrary, such incidents are more in urban areas.Rediff! Please stop publishing such baseless news
this means 27 were abused ? Only 3 boys in the class would be corporally punished from time to time. And after a while, the teachers even gave that up, simply ignored the 3. What happens in Assam,Mizoram may be of concern. Rajasthan and Goa lowest, because both have low populations and girl child in rajasthan is a contentious issue anyways.
Not sure which agency conducted this investigation. Don't think it is the WHO, I have friend in WHO and she is rather proud of India.

Bad elements were always there, will always be there. Incidents that you are talking are extremes and rare. I agree only a small percentage of such incidents come to light. But even considering that, I guess the actual number of incidents are too small a percentage of total population. Still we are good as a society.
