Extremely sorry to heard such news from the
fully literate state like Keralam. The
efforts of the Doctors particularly
Dr.Jayakumar's are truly appreciable.
The outside Malayalees are really proud
of such dedicated people from our home land.

Communalism- Are we really educated?
by Manish Mahajan (View MyPage) on Aug 06, 2010 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

I'm surprised to see how instead of sympathising with the victim and condemning the act of violence, many of us are directly accusing one or more ethnic group as being communal, and equating the entire community with the terrorist activities. While we should have courage to call the spade a spade, it is never rational to blame an entire community for what some of its members are doing. Even if there is a single member in that community who is peace-loving and secular, blaming an ethnic group would be an insult to that individual also. Let our education teach us restrain as we speak about others.

Exactly! I fully agree with what you said. We have good and bad people from all religions. Let us rely on the good ones to build up the society

They also have to be blamed for this situation. they take processions when iraq is attacked, when afghanistan is attacked..but they silently ignore cruel deeds done by their community.

Why dont the saner elements in the community issue a fatwa against "some members" who are hijacking their religion? Dont they feel their religion is being besmirched by the actions of a "few"?

Agree with Mr.Nair. If the religious leaders take necessary action to alienate the bad apples of their community (applies to all religious groups) this kind of atrocities will not happen again and it won't taint the name of the religion and its majority of law abiding people.

The saner elements in the muslim community acted promptly. If we bothered to find out who gave the professor the 12 bottles of blood he needed, we would have known it. All the blood was given by members of the muslim community. But for obvious reasons, it would not get much media attention.

Also, the news paper run by Popular Front of India had to condemn the cowardly act. It was definitely due to the public opinion especially within the muslim community.
