I still remember the sequence when they sang the song hum honge kaamyaab on that road ... zindagi se haare hue but still the hope alive .... and that Mahabharata scene was the best comedy scene ever pictured in Indian comedy movies... and i don't think this movie can be remaked and these characters couldn't come close to that simplicity
I read ur article on Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron bein a perfect comedy.i havent seen this film yet but after readin ur article i think i need 2 c it.but speakin of comedies the one film which comes 2 my mind is Andaaz Apna Apna.i have seen lots of comedies like Munna Bhai MBBS,Masti,Angoor,Hera Pheri 2 name a few but no one even comes close 2 this classic.i have seen AAA many a times n cant stop laughin each time i c it,it leaves me in splits. It even has sum great music n sum brilliant performances spl by Aamir Khan. this film which although bein liked unanimously didnt set the box office on fire jus like JBDY.

Dear Rahul,
I can tell one thing , though i have seen both the movies, JBDY 21 years back , AAA some 10 years back, i can recollect the way i laughed for JBDY, the very fact that i saw many comedy movies subsequently and have forgot the general plot of many of these movies, but i do still remember the plot of JBDY , the picturisation of the characters , the "Mahabharat" scene which is the "creme de la creme" part of the movie, i remember i had stomach pain for two hours after movie because i couldn't stop laughing, i am not sure if i will laugh that much now when if I see the movie again, because i would anticipate some dialogues,
I would rate this as my best movie ever, actually I am out of India and a charming Moroccon lady who is an Indian movie freak asked which was the best Indian movie i liked , the name of JBDY came to me instantly, so i tried to "google" for JBDY and came across this artcle.....
excellent excellent article!... i didnt even remember that movie.. but kudos to sukanya for reminding me of some of the priceless moments... now i really want to see it again!!!!! more please.. more.. more....
hi, I instantly like any jbdy fan.And i agree with most of your cast but i do think rahul bose is rather overrated,i would give that role to ajay devgan/aamir khan and of course saif is perfect.Shoba should go to pooja bhatt, priya to juhi chawla(evergreen, brilliant at comedy). And govinda is great...continue the good work.
JBDY is undoubtedly the best comedy ever made, it was perfect not only because it was funny but also because it was an intelligent film with a message. It had a dream starcast again perfect, I can't find a single fault with the film, true that since filmmakers are into remakes why not JBDY, I'm sure if they attempt it they'll do a decent job but it will never match upto the original I can bet on it. Its a unique film and what makes it unique are not only the characters but the actors who potray those characters. With due respect to the actors suggested I don't think bar AB they are even a patch over the original. Just my opinion.
vidhu vinod chopra appears as a photo-journalist at the press conference organised for the inauguration of the D'Mello flyover. The guy playing Dushaasan is another actor.
I will go with the star casting suggested by Sukhanya. But my Big Question is where is the suggestion for the Producer's name? What was done with a small budget 20 years ago could run into a few crores if all those STARS are to be engaged and paid their market rate!
Very nice. Its really a very good movie which fits every era. And as the author rightly said the acting of each and every actor was flawless. Kudos to Kundan shah for making such a wonderful film. Here even foreign friends of mine loved it so much so that they request me to hire that cd everytime we have a party.
Thank you for such a lovely article. Hope our film makers will take notice of it.
Your review was wonderful and I was very heartened to see that there are still some movie buffs around who enjoy good stuff !!!!
Jaane Bhi....... was, is & will be my favourite film not only because of its comic value, which isnt anything unsubstantial, but also for its bottomline that it is very very difficult to make a living in India as honest people!!!
