yes - Indian IT companies employers over 280,000 H1Bs and L1 visa holders in the US - so that is right. I know at least 15 so called "IT" companies that employ nothing but recruiters to place H1Bs and L1 visa holders. Nirupam rao didn't say Indian companies created "280K" jobs for "Americans" - so what if these are are for "99.99% Indians". But, Indian companies did support "280K" jobs for "Indians" by bringing people on "H1Bs" and "L1s". So she is kind of right !

I know where is this frustration coming from ? You must be one of those guys who went to the US on a H-1B./L-1, managed to get Green Card and then started hating all the other indians on H1B/L1 as you have to compete with the fellow Indians.:-D. When will people like you ever understand that this is a cyclic process? The jobs/opportunities taken away from Asia 300 yrs ago are coming back..today its china/india. tomorrow its going to be Africa. what will you do then? :-)
Indian IT has taken away millions of jobs from US. China has taken away million of manufacturing jobs.
What is 250k comapred to millions. Generations of developers are gone from US and Europe. The 250k jobs from Indian IT companies mostly employ Indians anyway and many of them on H1 and L1 visas.
Everyday in the news there is a backlash against India and China. India and China are also slowing down big time. US and Europe are rethinking their strategy. In these times. If 10 billion a year company like Infosys, TCS, IBM are not going to change their ways then they will see a clamp down on them. Doors are closing.

Well, their industrialization took many millions of jobs from indians in the past. Their heavily subsidized farmers took money from many poor farmers of the third world. This is the fundamental of free market. They can't accpet that their companies will make 50% or more revenue from third world but they will not allow free flow of labor to support indian companies.

tar sha, Your analysis is totally baseless. How did industralization took millions of jobs in India? Which were we manufacturing and exporting? US farming is not subsidized, they do not have 10 layer of broker between consumer and farmer. Farmer earns most of the profit that is why the farmers are rich and in turn invests in more productivity and efficiency. Do not blame others for your dysfunctional government.

Qakkad : I am sorry to say that you didn't read much of history. please do so.. Has it ever occurred to you why the British colonies were suffering from abject poverty when Great Britain & Europe was going thru the defining phase of Industrial revolution? Just think abt it, better read abt it. :-)

So what? it is win win situation every one looks for. The Ambassodor just pointed out that it is not a one way business good for India but it is good for America too. That is what I understand from the news. Correct me if I am wrong..

The fact is obvious. Had there been no corruption in India, India can become Number 1 advanced country. But the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats do not want India's progress as they want their own progress and become fat!

politicians are also people. And in India the curruption is at grass root level. Think hard and think if you know anybody who hasn't 'paid' extra for some services. Or 'received' extra for something. Who has declared 'all' their income? Unless you earn only from your salary?

Every news item discussed here eventually ends up on corruption but no one is doing anything to stop corruption. We have democracy and can elect a government which is corruption free, if there is one. We can stop paying bribes to get something done from a government office. We can stop accepting gifts from private companies for buying their products. So before we blame corrupt politicians, we need to think big tim..who made these 'netas' ?

indian IT companies are a Call Center and not a software development company. they are looking for short term gain and not aware of long term pain. all these companies will be wiped out within 5-10 yrs as malaysia, thailand and china are providing call center jobs at much lower rate and so even indian juniors will become costly in next 2 yrs.

even the report does not exactly mention, how many US citizens have been recruited in these indian IT copanies.
