Result of manipulated high cost
by kailash chander (View MyPage) on Sep 20, 2012 06:58 PM

almost huge projects in china and russia are run by sons and relatives of political leaders (now Indians have learned from them)and the costs of all these have been manipulatively very high. there are some dams and other projects which have been made necessarily just to make huge money like now in India. Dams, toll tax collection, other big construction projects like ports development, airports development are one of them.

Metro

Why just for grabbing eyeballs they are comparing space travel and metro. Metro is the lifeline of common man and a great way to ease nightmare of traffic in big cities what does space travel do for common person? Moreover, China being a communist state heavily susidizes its public facilities and it is working fine up to now. We have to just look at what is happening to fully capitalist states such as Europe(where nearly half of them are bankrupt and dragging whole world with them) and US(which is also in a pretty bad shape). China is only one example in humam history of lifting so many people from poverty and at least putting them into middle class in their lifetime, remember China does not have the advantage like some of the European countries or US which had old colonies and cheap labor(blacks)etc to build this infrastructure. India especially must take positives from China. Also, India must study how China has achieved status of sports superpower(not just at home but look at London) and take some leaf out of their book at least to win some medals notwithstanding the negative propaganda of western media.

Yeah, rediff got to write the name of person (his/her nationality details) whenever rediff publishes such major major concern topic. Yes, Rahul, your comments are certainly meaningful and seem very right. Rediff need to be cautious before affecting public sentiment in any way.

More than money, to me, what's worrying is """safety""". We all know what happened just a few days back (reg fire in train in Tamilnadu). So, my dear fellow Indians, imagine what can happen with """"so called hi-fi underground metro trains, stations etc"""""""" God, who on earth can ever know of such a fire or accident and who on earth will reach them. So...... in conclusion, I was never with and will never be part of any scheme of things the Governments plan -- be it Govt. of India, or x,y,z... to me, all idiotic governments are stupid, insane, inhuman and fit for nothing. Best is to leave the f....... govt to them and carry on with your daily life and family life happily, peacefully, and what not. To hell with this Metros or.... my own 2-wheeler or utmost a car or x,y,z is more than enough to make me take places and that too exciting places. thus, for sure, I am least bothered about Metro, no Metro, all Metro........ shit.....

Low fares on Beijing subway
by PK (View MyPage) on Aug 02, 2012 06:07 AM  | Hide replies

Having used the Beijing Subway quite a few times on my travels there, I must say that though its convenient for the public, low fares might be the reason the company doesnt make profit. A ticket is a flat rate 2 RMB which is roughly 20 British pence. The network is long and extensive, so 2RMB flat rate is not ideal for the revenues of the operating co. But this being China, they cant increase price cos of the disparity between rich and poor, and need to maintain public services cheap. I thought they already knew this. Surprised to read this report on Metro and Space travel, its just journalism to grab eyeballs.

I just wrote a good good comment, commending the good work of PK and I had bashed a bit to politicians.... and when I wanted to send my comment (just a while ago) somehow Rediff has blocked it -- giving message as "my message has been blocked by Moderator". Well... Good Work PK!!! Keep the good work doing. That certainly helped me change my opinion. Thanks!!!

China is like India, but with following differences:
1. Only Congress is in power it is corrupt but it build infrastructure like BJP.
2. It was only 1 script, say DEVNAGARI across, so even Tamil is written in DEVNAGARI.

Now i ask you, if India was like this, would it split ?
