The World Best and fastest trains are FRENCH ; not Japanese and still lesser... the Chinese. The names of those trains are AGV & TGV. By the way, the World Record is also FRENCH with a TGV Duplex engines at 575 km/h.
The idea of a bullet doesnt seem to be practical at all. In India the journey of 710 kms takes more than 10 hours meaning an average speed of 60 to 70 kms at max.. and most of the trains run on skewed schedules.. and having a bullet train in place looks to be 2050 possibility only...

it's difficult to buy bullet train tickets in busy seasons,so we have to buy them in advance.while slow trains are much cheaper, the problem with it is that they always departure or arrive at midnight, and they are crowded in most cases, causing us a lot of troubles.so bullet trains are not showcase just one of our choices.

Mr.lax your question as to why we dont keep our stations clean our compartments clean etc. I am regular traveller in the AC II/III coaches and had seen to my dismay even educated lot throw their litter near their seat where they sit and dont take pains to get up and throw in the dustbin provided near the toilet. V expect the railway authorities to do the cleaning job.Charity begins at home is the saying. In the stations too people dont take pains to thro the litter in the dustbin provided for the purpose, instead feel free to throw on the rails. They spit near the coaches or on the platforms but not int the wash basins. These observations with regard to the educated lot. Leave alone the illiterates. Every citizen should think of his responsibility to keep clean the place whereever may he be.If this were to be inculcated then the half the conservancy work of the government will be reduced and the money saved.V need improvements and there are people to pay for the conveniences and comforts provided. When V can pay so much for nothing in the AC II tier then why not few bucks more in bullet trains.V need to outsmart not just the chinese but the world.Mass production and running of trains will definately bring money and cost factor little low.V R not developing because v dont have politicians who are patriotic and selfless.V have corrupt, immoral self centered politicians whose main aim is to fill their coffer. U C what is happening in the parliament. OUr elected MPs dont attend.

Wrong. Its all abobut designing a better system or not. If we have a dirty habit, we have to design a better system. Loke in Europe, we have to put dustbin/plastic bags to through garbage at every seat. If people steal that plastic, design a system which people can not take. Its all abt willpower Remember, what we are today, developed countries were few decades back. They did. We can too if want and if we want and if we stop using excuses.
If Indian Railways succeed with their experi- ments with trains running at 350 kmph, it would revolutionize the way we look at train travel. If this works out, they should next look at 550 kmph or whatever speed the faster trains in the world run at. They tracks they lay right now should be designed for speeds of 550 kmph speeds, to avoid double expense.
I personally think its a very good step. If it can be implemended properlly Bullet trains will be a huge success.
I read some of the comments here, n its really disappointing that people have such negative views about such a project. Its high time we change out thinking. There is no harm in copying good things from other country.
Bullet train is really required in country like ours.

Appreciated your emotion and patriotism. However machines require more than these. In a country where entire system collapse because of fog, construction sites always have avoidable accidents, trains colliding because and so on. These faults are definitely avoidable if people shun "chalta hai" attitude. As long as, poor quality is practiced and accepted, bullet train will also collide with each other or other static objects. Who know components of these trains may fly in different direction with people enjoying flying on own.
Whatever they do, please use the technology to prevent excreta falling on to the railway tracks. It is unhygenic, polluting and pathetic - making Indian Railways the biggest toilet in the world.

You are right dude , this is a primitive mode of desposing waste. The percentage of people using the train has increased over 100% than when the system was developed. Still we continue to use the same method.
futuristic.. 1) India gets the first 350 KM/H train. 2) Some useless nutjob politicians, for want of votes, will promise that the train will serve all junctions between Mumbai and Pune. 3) The once 350 KM/H train now stops at every damn junction on the way. 4) Effective speed 70 KM/H
This initiative will succeed if... 1) Private agencies are allowed to maintain and run these trains not government. That means no quote for anybody. 2) ticket price is somewhich more that govt railways but lesser than airlines 3) First testing is done on busiest business routes. If it is profitable it should be extended to other route.

YOU R ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, UNTIL THIS BASIC IS DONE ,THEN ONLY WE CAN THINK OF HIGH SPEED TRAIN.
