Mr Premji. pls let us know, what is your contribution towards infrastructure
by gautam on Jul 27, 2004 10:59 PM

Mr Premji, pls let us know, what is Wipros contribution towards infrastructure. Now that Wipro and the likes have milked Karnataka and realise that they can milk other states too, they are thinking of moving else where. But please do not complain, if Wipro is what it is now, it is becasue of you moving to Bangalore to tap the talent here earlier.
I think Wipro(and others) should follow Infy and be more charitable and contributing to the city's development.

by Bangalorean on Jul 26, 2004 09:12 PM

GUYs hold on a sec, u people don't get it, do U, he said he is not expanding wipro centres here , he never said he is moving out...........

an observation, Vivek Paul talked to a TV reporter and explained how b'lore has changed and has become crowded and unaffordable for wipro..... but he categorically maintained that "COME WHATEVER MAY , WIPRO's WORLDWIDE OPS WILL ALWAYS RUN FROM BANGALORE "

But the TV reported concluded the report saying declaring that WIPRO IS MOVING ALL ITS BUSINESSES FROM B'lore it was so weird.... man...

These TV channels, reporters want somethin sensational......., maybe they should forget reporting about IT business, B'lore and stick to crappy BOLLYWOOD MOVIES.....

and the guy grom NASHIK, u r wrong man, place's name is na.. SICK , nothin there , just a path to SHIRDI SAI BABA.........temple

Not Correct!
Hmmm..... wipro bankrupt with ideas?
by Not Correct! on Jul 26, 2004 05:27 PM

When there was a profit not much attrition, every thing will look rosy for these guys, now they see some attrition, they will flee. At least from a company like Wipro, we expect some kind of commitment like buck stops here. If Wipro also complains like some mediocre politician, there is no point we adoring them, as we are doing now. Bangalore engineers should take a cue from this comment.

Definitely not good PR for Wipro :(

Vinayaka.

Bangalore

The only negative factor for Bangalore is its awful roads and footpaths ad lack of parking space. These have been neglected by the authorities who cannot be forgiven. They are callous and indifferent. This indeed is a big snag. Once the roads are set right, Bangalore will be a paradise. Climate is naturally airconditioned, literally littered with gardens, people are friendly, fragrant flowers and vegetables are fresh and cheap, no water shortage, vegetarian hotels are plenty with cheap, affordable, varied tasty items and more hygienic than in other cities, and plenty of tourist spots and water around Bangalore in Karnataka. Mysore, Coorg and Ooty are nearby. Set right the roads and footpaths and traffic congestion and see the difference.

Wipro finds Bangalore Stagnating

Dear sirs,
The politicians who have come up by other easy means do not understand the problems faced by business people. There one mantra is free power to farmers and giving doles to poor people. How many poor people are working in Bangalore. I can show you many young people sitting and talking in Parks and street corners. God only knows how they manage their families. May be by other means.

Wipro is right in deciding to relocate some of its operations. Wipro should also think of moving its entire operations to more business friendly states lije Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujrat etc. Karantaka is the only state with highest sales Tax Percentage with poorest infrastracture and many goons are working in Govt. Establishements. Karnataka State is a God forsaken state and none can change the destiny of this state. No Road Despline and people are not cultured. As the people are Roads are there ,Drains are there and over flowing Garbage Bins. Though Bngalore is Poor the Councillers are getting Rich Year after Year. City Corporation wastes money like no body`s business. Be it Kempe Gowda`s day or any othr function.

Instead of grumping and grouching about Infrastructural problems take a leaf out of Infy's book and see how much they have to contributed to improving quality of life in Bangalore. No place can be as friendly to outsiders as Bangalore has been , the only exceptions being Bombay and Poona. You can't shift bases from Mumbai to Bangalore and Bangalore to Kolkotta.Kolkotta for all its recent refurbishment has major cultural problems still stuck with anachronistic communist views. Less said about places like Chennai the better. I don't want to speak about a Political city like Delhi. Your revenues are up by 73% . Why do you raise a hue and cry about infrastructure every time. Nandan Nilekeni does'nt do it. True Bangalore has major infrastructural problems, the biggest of them being Transport with the result that it has led to Congestion, Pollution etc.We need people like you to solve these problems. The Government is useless, atleast the present one,I agree. At the same time we do not want Bangalore to lose a celbrity like you. I hold you in the highest esteem and I dream of owning a Corporation like Wipro one day.I wish Wipro all the success in its future endeavours.

ITS A PALE MOVE
by Rohit on Jul 24, 2004 04:29 PM

PREMJI is moving out of bangalore is not due to sustained growth in Bangalore or its infrastructure. ITs because of its less retention rate in employees.

Right now in bangalore there are 1000s of companies who pay well compared to wipro and employees pushing forward for better opportunities is not a rare case. Infact Wipro should stay there and try to retain employees instead of running away from Bangalore. This is actually a PALE MOVE dats it..

WIPRO finds Bangalore stagnating > think Nashik
by Atul Saboo on Jul 24, 2004 02:51 PM

WIPRO's experience is not a surprise and it should sincerely look at new places like Nashik.

Why Nashik...it is calm and secured place to live. Work force is qualified and the city is spread in a well structured manner. Climate wise it is on par with Bangalore as nashik is situtated at about 550 mt above mean sea level. Nashik has two Multiplexes and two more coming up. Good shopping with Big Bazzar and well knowm brands present. Biz hotel Taj residency and many good hotels too.

Best if WIPRO sends a fact finding team to Nashik.

Mumbai is just 3 hrs drive via NH4.

Sometimes, I really feel Bangalore is getting crowded, because of this software boom. This has polluted the city. I think it would be a good move that Wipro has made to look out of Bangalore.

Come on give me break my friend. Why do you want serene places like Pune and Nashik to degenerate the way Bangalore has in the last fifteen years. It pains me to see my hometown, the way it is today. I don't want that to happen to Nashik. Pune is already on the way to degeneration. The last time I visited , I was suprised to see the surge in slums . Pune was much cleaner and quieter in 1992 than it is today. Come on this rut needs to be stopped at once.
