Pant is waiting to explode
by Dhantannan (View MyPage) on Sep 15, 2018 10:36 AM

sadly dhoni is no more finisher or rhe explosive batsmen he was. he must be replaced by pant.
We must not make same mistake as in WC 2007, when old players such as ganguli etc continued and made india pay with and early exit.

It is high time for Dhoni to retire from ODI.
by Jayaprakash (View MyPage) on Sep 14, 2018 07:56 PM  | Hide replies

Cannot understand why BCCI is allowing Dhoni to continue playing ODI and T20 after as per his choice. With due respect to Dhoni and his contribution to Indian Cricket I feel he should have opted to continue playing test cricket rather than one dayers and T20s if he chose retirement based on age factor. Shorter format of cricket is ideal for youngsters who have better reflexes, aggression and stamina when compared to older players. Test cricket is a much more relaxed game suited for experienced players like Dhoni. He can definitely continue with test cricket for another 2-3 years. I feel there is a reason why he opted to continue with shorter format which is a more stressful and demanding game than test cricket.

Why Kohli is more tired?
by Irish verma (View MyPage) on Sep 14, 2018 05:13 PM

Kohli is more tired because he tried harder off the field too. He just cannot stop thinking about his partner even when he is batting, so it's obvious he is more tired..

ACID TEST FOR DHONI
by damodaran mohan (View MyPage) on Sep 14, 2018 04:49 PM

,,,it will be real test for Dhoni... How strong Pak bowling attack is not exactly known. India should win otherwise. I do not see any other neighbors winning it.

Head line reads : Aim to find a batting position for Dhoni.
by Shilpa Mehta (View MyPage) on Sep 14, 2018 04:12 PM  | Hide replies

MSD can bat at any position .

Such a great batsman in all formats .

I remember our media & some FOOL FANS were saying :

MSD did not score abroad in Tests when even Rahul
& Pant scored .

Why scoring a century is needed at all ??

Scoring even 40-50 runs is enough when they are needed most . As MSD use to do . His average overseas is 38 .

For Example : Rahul scored 150 in last game .

Had he scored even one third ( ie 50 runs ) each

in first three games , results of this series

could have been different .

SO , YOU CANNOT EVALUATE A BATSMAN JUST BY ONE OR TWO CENTURIES ABROAD .

I could say that the failure in England is due to poor play by Shikar Dhawan, Rahul, Rahane and Rishab Pant

Dhoni never played any match winning or saving innings in Tests except for 1 in ENG in 2007 where he scored around 90 to save the match.Other than that, there is no crucial innings from him.And in the last 2-3 years, his limited overs form is also on wane. With Age,reflexes diminish and that's what is happening with him. It's better he hangs his boots before they boot him out.

Fact remains, MSD could not score in AUS/ENG/SA. He was a failure as Test batsman on those condition. do not come up with lame excuses

A day will come for any great player to retire. Aging is a reality and one should gracefully accept it, especially players. Even at the age of 40 or 50 a person can play cricket, but not at national level. How the youngster get a chance unless the aging players quit. Even Dhoni got a place in the team on retirement of a senior player. It is not the right thing to deny the chances of promising youngsters like Pant.

Mr. Jayaprakash do you all think rediff will listen or reply your comments?? We all said same words for Sachin, dravid, Lakshman and many others that they should retire. One thing I don't understand why ask Dhoni to retire. He is not alone playing cricket there are 10 others in the team who need to perform. Why don't we say if players don't perform remove them and bring in new talents.
