fully agree.. but he has ensured his place in the team for another 1.5 yrs at least (without any runs) following his century against Bermuda, a BIG team.. till dravid is there, no one can touch sehwag.. if india loses tomorrow's game, dravid will lose his captaincy and so we would lose virendra sehwag!!! the greatest batsman of all time.. HA HA HA

true...donot drop sehwag, we need players with attitude..even wen sehwa was out of form as a batsman, he was brilliant with his fielding and decent bowling..now that he has come back to form, u could see him concentrating hard wityh deep breath...its a risky one to drop him...and wat happend to pathan??thsi is the time to give chance to him, more than a kumble like bowler, hesa a big hitetr of the ball durign end overs...

Dot balls & Settling times
by aruna sriram on Mar 22, 2007 02:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The key to Indian performance lies in minimising dot balls. The team that minimises dot-balls while batting will win this Cup.

Even when we made 413, there were around 140 dot balls in our innings. When we made 191 against Bangladesh, there were almost 200 dot balls (that is 33 maiden overs out of 50.

Against teams like SL, bad (boundary) balls will be rare. We will need to consistently convert singles out of perfectly good balls. Similarly, batsmen will have to learn to minimise their "settling times". A batsman like Ganguly was blinking hard (trying to see the ball well) after playing for 15-20 overs!

If you plot the team result (win or loss) against the dot balls conceded, you will see my point.

Absolutely Valid point. That is where Sachin and Dravid are better when compared to ganguly and sehwag. Both sachin and rahul shud come in the order to combat murali and co

very well pointed out, everyone was praising ganguly's consistency, but he is overdoint it, fine if he wastes a few balls initially to get set, But i noticed in both matches he was wasting 5 balls even after playing 30 overs, that is bad. i guess team management should give him teh message that after 10 overs you cannot waste more than 1 ball per over, hit or get out

WHY ISNT PATHAN IN THE TEAM ??? WHY THE HELL IS AGARKAR STILL THERE ?? HIS PATHETIC PERFORMANCE AGAINST BANGLADESH WAS BAD ENOUGH AND EVEN BERMUDA SCREWED HIM...ATLEAST PATHAN IS A GOOD BATSMAN AND MORE RELIABLE THAN SEHWAG ...!!!

IRFAN HAD BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL AGAINST BANGLADESH B4 HE WAS CHOSEN FOR THE SQUAD ...!!!

HAVE TO THROW OUT AGARKAR...!!!

why india should be in super 8
by madan gopal on Mar 22, 2007 02:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The whole of the country is looking into imaginative world but be realistic and wish the indian so called leaders(rahul, tendulkar, sehwag etc) to do some beautiful ads which will earn them name and money what will happen if india reaches super 8 nothing but waste of time to the viewers. In my view Indian players should look for some directors in the carribean who can shoot ad for them

what if Sruilanka bats first and manages only 103,and india chases the target in 48.3 overs ..that is a low scoring game is also a possibility. IN that case i think, the chances for bangaladesh to qualify will be comparitively easier,IS IT NOT ????

LOST, but OUTCOME is Good..
by chs on Mar 22, 2007 02:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I would like to see INDIA to be in Super 8. But, I wish INDIA should loose the match against SL. If TEAM INDIA loose against SL, we can expect LOT of senior(so called experience)players like SACHIN, GANGULY, SEHWAG, DRAVID to retire from any form of CRICKET.

We can expect a totally new TEAM INDIA with YOUNGSTERS....

In case if they win against SL, they will be in SUPER 8, and same OLD STORY will repeat with this SO CALLED, MUCH HYPED INDIAN PLAYERS....
