Important match
by VIJAY SURVE on Mar 22, 2007 06:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If our opener play atleast 15 overs without losing his wickets then match will be in our favour. I have to further add that if Sachin or Sehwag or Saurav or Yuvraj or Dhoni or any one can play his best evening for our Indians for this match then they will be our best heroes. Otherwise all them are zeroes for us & we don't care of them as well as we have to boycott all our cricketers????????????

I agree to Mr. Viajay.. if they don't try hard to win this match and move up to Super8.. We pledge to boycott all the products endorsed by cricketers... Then only you'll better know how to concentrate on cricket only.. when no one endorse you to sell their products..

TO DRAVID ! WITH LOVE !
by Vasanthan Bharathy on Mar 22, 2007 06:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Mr. Dravid,

Before blaming media, dont forget that it is this media which brought you endless endorsements and advertisement oppurtunity. You were neither reluctant then nor you were blaming then. But when you have lost a match (out of ur own inpreparedness and laziness) you have started blaming the media.

Bangladesh issued a caution signal by beating New zealand in the warm up game. U should have taken the clue from there and you and your team mates should have got mentally prepared for the challenge. But instead of that it was a display of some muscle-less fight. Had it been Australia, things would have been different. They would have come mentally prepared for the challenge.

Mr. Dravid, I guess you have gone to the West Indies for winning the cup and not to booze and party on the shores. Winning the cup, means winning each and every game of the tournament. There are no excuses for inpreparedness, there is no 30 runs short in a WC tournament.

Atleast if you had put some tough fight against Bangladesh and inspite of that bangladesh has won, we can conclude that bangladesh played better cricket on that day. But what you and ur team mates did was a mere surrender on all 3 departments of the game.

Mr. Dravid, you can learn lessons from 2 great men, Ponting and Inzamam, learn to win like Ponting if not retire from the game like Inzamam. There are millions of youngsters in this country waiting for a chance, so cricket will not end if you retire. So the message to you at last is: deliver or Get Lost !!

First and foremost Dravid is skipper today thanks to the media.First TV,then internet, then the various interviews on Radio. This sustained media hype and campaign finally resulted Dravid getting the captaincy and Dalmia getting dislodged etc .Dravid owes everything to the media. It is the media that is sustaining him even now.See how soft they are on him.To think that Mr Pawar,Mr More and Dravid are now cribbing about the same media is indeed ironic.Well said Vasanthan.

india must win world cup 2007
by ramesh m on Mar 22, 2007 06:04 PM  Permalink

indian must win srilanka to enter super eight, after they have to work hard{not showgiri}for india, definately we will win worldcup2007. If found match fixing and all ,then all of the indian cricket fans to do that nobody players to enter in india safety, they should be punishment strongly. Because our is now strongest team more than other. Later we have to remove from india team and select new players from all state level. First thing we have to make strong agreement to not allow for any advertisement for money. then we will win everymatch. Most of players want to earn money first, than they want play for india second. It should stop.

See the beutifull performance of Shrilanka against the team to which India loss shamefully. Indicating the hopes for India win is very less.

So Keep yourself ready to welcome Team_India back......But dont forget carrying eggs and tomatos with you though they have diluted the impact loosing against Bangladesh

if we want our players to play well than theres only one way, Ban the cricketers to do ads and also Ban sponsorship. Then the only source of income will be cricket. and also pay them as per their performance.

absolutely right, "Aap ke mooh peh, ghee-shakkar"! (forgive my hindi!). When 600 million in India don't know where their next meal is coming from, what we pay for our heroes for their mediocre performance beats my imagination. BCCI should make it a policy that endorsements will be allowed only after players hang up their boots! Till then, they are employees of BCCI.

Do or die?
by Aarthi Kumar on Mar 22, 2007 05:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As India prepares to face the Lankan tigers in a crucial World cup match on Friday, I could not but cede to the temptation of writing a few words on how we are making the situation all the more worse and difficult to handle, for the Indian team.

One, yes I do understand the team needs to realize that they have put themselves in a bad situation, because this is a must win for them and failure is just not an option at all. But, at the same time nothing%u2019s going to help them if we, the audience, unnecessarily add to the tremendous pressure they already have to face. I was actually reading reports of stone throwing by the public because of India%u2019s loss to Bangladesh, insecurity to the families of the team mates and also to their homes. This is disgusting!!

Okay let%u2019s look at how we typically have responded in the past%u2026..When India does well, we jump up saying India%u2019s in superb form, India is the best team in the world and our batsmen are the best and all those praises. And one defeat is enough to completely change our opinions? Is this the faith we have in our own team?

It%u2019s a known fact that we have a strong batting line up with the likes of Sehwag, Ganguly, Sachin, Dravid, Yuvraj, Dhoni and we have a fairly good bowling line up too. But in spite of this there might be days when India may not have a good day. Remember batting and bowling are not the only things that determine a success or failure. The pitch, the toss, the weather, the grass and a good amount of luck also contribute to success or failure.

If we are going to create so much hype and add to the host of expectations the team is already facing, I wouldn%u2019t be surprised if the pressure takes its toll and India doesn%u2019t make it. Yes, you may argue that you have to learn to perform under pressure, but tell me how many of us would walk into something and come out successfully when heavy expectations are weighing on us? If that%u2019s the case with us, why should it be any different for the Indian team?

If we revolt like this and admonish our heroes with every defeat, it only shows our immature attitude. And what you say or do is not going to change things or not going to turn a loss into a win. So let%u2019s all act like patriotic Indians and support our team. Remember it%u2019s about winning the battle not every war. It%u2019s about winning the cup and not every match!
