If India do not go thru, our stupid private free TV channel's tarot readers and jyotishis will come and tell you the stars turned or they saw a wrong tarot card or a wrong hand or a wrong janam patri of the cricketers. As of now all these guys have bullshitted a lot. If it rains thru the day, Mandira Bedi will wear uglier appearances on the show. Charu Sharma will look more and more female. Second and "thud" grade forgotten cricketers will tell you "Humne toh pehle he kaha tha !
OK, coming back to fundas, If there's rain, both India & SL will get a point each. In such case, if BD beat Bermuda, they will go through. If Bermuda beat BD (Ha Ha Ha Ha . .)then India will go through (HA HA HA HA HA !!).

how did u arrive at that figure? net sponsorship does not exceed 450 crores, of which, 150 crores is in jeopardy right now
RE:RE:RE:INDIA - SUPER 8
by Pradeep Ramakrishna on Mar 22, 2007 08:16 PM Permalink
It is still 150 crores. Try to understand Sameer, please read newspapers and get your figures right!!
India will not lose to Lanka because, if India loses and is ousted off the tournament and given that Pakistan is already off the game, ICC World Cup will become financially unviable to conduct. It would have been manageable even it were in Australia, SOuth Africa or England. Since it is in West Indies, the local board is also not rich enough to support the game in the absence of sponsors. ICC would have taken care that India wins.

I SWARE...........SEHWAG ..... SURELY WILL FAIL .......... HARDLY .. INDIA WILL MAKE 200 ...
more often than not we tend to cover up our failings and mistakes. The Indian team lost fair and square to BLDSH with only the much maligned Ganguly and Yuvi scoring. Now we depend on Net run rate, duckworth lewis, swamijis, meditation and all possible permutations and combinations while the truth is we would not be in this quagmire if sachin, rahul, dhoni, uthappa etc had all done their jobs. Remember...HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY !!! if this is our game despite all the tom-toming about preparations, flexible players, mind games etc by Chappell-Dravid Inc then do we really deserve to even go into the next round ??And if losing was not enough, we have morons in India who take up cudgels, burn effigies, threaten families and worse...start vandalising and breaking property belonging to Dhoni etc. Appeal to everyone, our players are not probably world cup winning material...probably they never will be. Lets atleast not lose our rational sense and act like medieval witch-hunters

Under similar conditions and against the same side [Bangla Desh] Compare and contrast the performance of India and Sri Lanka. The Lankans are miles ahead in all the depatrments of the game and we are hoping and praying! How far Luck alone can carry us?
Why do you want to hype it by sayng roup of death kind of stuff? Its just another game..Nobody wants to loose...specially those who play for their country. We have to realize the pressure under which our team have to play compared to any other country and respect the results what ever it be. You people need consider fan's mentality and be more responsible.

Don't take it so literally, group of death is quite often used, for eg in Football world cup groups also, when many teams are considered to have equal chances of qualifying to next round.
"India can still make it to Super-8 despite losing to Sri Lanka on 23rd. But for that Bangladesh has to lose to Bermuda."
Dont think thats posible. Cause in this situation tie will be between India and Bangladesh with one win for each. And when its a tie between just two teams, head to head is considered in which case Bangladesh will qualify. Net run rate comes into play iff there is 3 way tie.
I initially thought this is one of the rare articles where rediff got it all right, until this last statement.

Mr. Sameer. Sorry to tell that your intelligent finding is wrong. In the situation you mentioned, it is defenitely a 3 way tie. You have forgotten Bermuda who has beat Bangaladesh (if assumption holds good) too tieing with India and Bangala with 1 win each.

Sorry, you are wrong. NRR has the higher preference in this world cup. Read the rules before pronouncing your judgement. They vary for each tournament.

If NRR has higher precedence then i will be surprised. Atleast this was not the case earlier world cups. can you point me to the link which tell so?

It's a three way tie as bermuda will also come into picture.

wow...i missed the 'bermuda tri-angle' Cool...so no question of head to head then. Bloody wrong i was.
Jay, i am still interested in knowing whether the run-rate really comes into picture before head to head. plz point me to the link if there is one which explains rules. although this doesn't affect us now

Well, Bermuda will also have 2 points in that case, so, actually it will be a 3 way tie again. The NRR then comes into the picture and India makes it to the Super 8s. However, if I were a part of the Indian team, I won't even be thinking about the Bangladesh Vs Bermuda game. I would much rather concentrate on winning the match against SL. That's what really matters.
India can still make it to Super-8 despite losing to Sri Lanka on 23rd. But for that Bangladesh has to lose to Bermuda - Rather they not goto Super 8's if they lose to Sri Lanka, coz then they won't deserve !!!
