CHANGE WORLD CUP LEAGUE MATCHES STRUCTURE

CRICKET IS A GAME OF PROFICIENCY/SKILL/FORM & CHANCE.NOT REFERING TO WC 2007, IN FUTURE, EVERY TEAM, AT LEAGUE STAGE, MUST/SHOULD PLAY A REVERSE MATCH WITH EACH OPPONENT TO DECIDE THE

CONSISTANT TEAM.STALWARTS LIKE PAK/INDIA /WI /SRILANKA etc.KNOW HOW TO FIGHT BACK. THEY SHOULD NOT BE MADE TO WAIT FOR 4 YEARS TO AVOID A FLUKE LOSS.

ALSO/ALTERNATIVELY, THE LAST WC FINNALISTS,

MUST BE GIVEN A BIRTH IN SUPER 8/9/10 ROUND, NEXT WC, SO THAT THEY will NOT BE VICTIMS DUE TO CHANCE ELEMENT.

Suri Sahab,

Totally agreed with you. Hundred percent in favour of what you said. ICC is trying make money by including more teams and at the same time changing format every year thinking that test playing team will beat minnows easily.

I totally agree that early exit of Pak doesn't reflect true picture of world cup. Same thing happened in last world cup also when Zim and Kenya reached super 6.

Exactly!!!! The whole format is bullshit. It kills the fun and just that. Reverse matches r the need of the hour. If ICC can spend time and energy on some minnows, why can't they find time to conduct reverse matches? There is no fun in this world cup!!

Very humbly want to point out Col. Suri that typing in caps is considered akin to shouting in cyber world.

Other than that, I agree with your ideas but I feel that somehow these reverses to the so called 'big teams' is the main thing which is keeping this game interesting dur to the unpredictability attached to it. If the consistent team is allowed to win by getting more chances to play, team like Australia wil maintain its monotony and then I doubt whether the level f public interest will remain that high.

Batting Numbers
by RediffReader on Mar 22, 2007 08:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If we bat first - scores should be:
1) 5 overs 23/0
2) 10 overs 55/0
3) 15 overs 74/0
4) 20 overs 95/1 (no wicket is always good)
5) 25 overs 120/1 (we will have Murali here)
6) 30 overs 150/2
7) 40 overs 203/3
8) 45 overs 248/5
9) 50 overs 295/8

If India follows something of this sort, it would be a thrilling match. Hope there is rain and SriLanka is effected by D/L method and asked to score 275 in 42 overs and they lose by 30 runs.

Looks good to me with the numbers :)

My take is this. India can win tom if we do this

a. Come tom. to play with a psoitive body language (Definitely not the case against BD and Ber)

b. If win toss, get ready to bat (yes, even with swinging ball). MJ's track record on winning toss (Bats 90% of the times)....

c. Plan, prepare and have a flexible batting order. What does this mean?

- I suspect Uthappa may not be in for these kind of pitches (Just a sense, am not sure ), i would replace him with Dinesh (ya, I am not dropping VS, even though I hate him so much)

- Dinesh and SCG open the innings

- If the start is OK (4 rpo in 10 overs without loss of wickets), I will send MSD at 1 down

- If the start is not OK (losing one wicket quickly, I will send RD at 1 down)

- If things go solidly, I will continue with MSD followed by YS and then so on

- If things worsen in the first 15 overs, I will quickly change strategy. Instead of sending my main stream batsmen , I will send in Sreesanth (Risky, but instead of agarkar or AGarkar if RD retains him) and Zaheer after the loss of 3 quick wickets - mandate, try scoring 10 runs each in 3-4 overs each...no smashing around

- Apart from this- Here is my objective for each individual batsmen

- DK/ SCG- Target: 30 Runs each in 45 balls each
(60 in 15 overs)

- MSD/ YS- 30 runs each in 30 balls each (60 in 10 overs)

-RD/SRT/VS- 30 runs each in 35 balls (90 in 18 overs)

- One of the above batsman then extends to score 75 in 85 balls.....

Net net score : 255 in 48 overs (approx)....Add another 20 in 2 overs...Total target 275.....

Vaas: Runs: 45
Murali: 40
Malinga: 50
Maharoof: 70
Dilshan/Jayasurya:70

Total: 275

Since RD is a useless captain..here is my strategy to deal with that problem

Tom. instead of RD leading the team, I will split the fielding team into 3 parts

A team of 3 India players will be responsible to plan to get the top 3 batsmen out.....similarl two other fielding teams will be set up to plan for the other batsmen,.....

That way...each team needs to plan, think and execute on match day...The necessity of an idiot captain is over as he will also be a part of team planning to get 3-4 batsmen out......

Also....since everybody is in a smaller sub-team....the conrtibution and responsibility to the team will increase manifold......

If india bat second..we will lose..100%

4) 20 overs 150/3 (Sanat also sout )

5) 25 overs 225/4 (agarkar is back on attack(?)

while I agree that some posters cross the line of decency, you get to know different points of view on one platform. The best way is to ignore the trash and absorb what you think is worthwhile. I don't in any way mean to sermonize on this, but we must accept the ground reality. Democracy is abused very often by a few but that is no good reason to throw the baby and water together.

It is a must win situation for India and I know SRT will be the key man along with Kumble both will play a crucial role. Expect Mulari being wacked all over the park
