RIP Mr. Woolmer
by Pankaj Daga on Mar 19, 2007 12:02 AM

No idea what happened. Hope there was no foul play involved. I guess he could not take the news of Pakistan's early exit from the WC.

I guess it is not just another game to some after all.

RIP Mr. Woolmer....May you find peace in the life beyond.

Come on dude. No one deserves to die for just a game. At the end of the day, that is what it is. You win some, you lose some. It is our own fault that we have given sports person of some obscure game the status of Gods...

I am not sure it might be something of psychological pressure / foul play involved ...let's wait for his reason of death b4 making any further comments... I heard sometime back woolmer was slapped by a pak cricketer .. These stuff are a little too much for the dignity of the game of cricket ...

this cant be a natural death because we subcontinental ppl may have natural habit of being emotional (highly) at times but certainly not the western ppl, who first see much stake in life than game itself. their must be some foul play from some paki fan and loosers. but as he departed i pay my tributes to him

Its only a game....
by on Mar 18, 2007 11:58 PM  | Hide replies

...its certainly not worth a man's life. I cannot express how much this feel futile to me. All the scandals , all the brand imaging. It appears like we are all drunk in the feeling of self importance. We make heroes out of nothing just so what Brands can sell.
At the end it cost Woolmer his life. I would be sorry enough if Woolmer just drank too much but I will want to quit following the game if there was foul play involved as I am sure a lot of advertisers and gamblers lost a lot of money with Pakistan crashing out.

And finally I pray that everyone learns that coaching Indian and Pakistan while lucrative is not worth their lives.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some foul play involved. Lets hope that the authorities concerned perform a thorough investigation and that this matter doesn't get relegated to the background on account of the WC 2007 hoopla !

RAJKOT: Six punters, taking bets during the India-Bangladesh World Cup match, were nabbed by police in Porbander on Saturday night.

The punters later alleged the involvement of a BJP worker, who is a member of Porbander nagarpalika, in the betting racket.

The accused, Mahesh Ganatra, Atul Joshi, Meraman Odedara, Salim Bhila, Pratap Dhokai and Jigesh Kotecha were arrested and Rs 26,150 in cash, six mobile phones and a TV set were seized from them.

The accused were taking bets at a pan shop on Mahatma Gandhi Road of the coastal town.

A police source said the accused had disclosed the name of Ketan Karia as the main bookie. Karia is an active member of the BJP and member of Porbander nagarpalika. However, he is absconding.

I knew that you are a big hater of BJP. But there are culprits and goons in every party. You are ver selective of BJP. There are many instances of Congress and other parties involving in Sex racekts and monetary frauds.
